A family home, a village, a volcano, and thousands of memories.
It all began as a family home…
Before tourism arrived in Santorini, before infinity pools and honeymoon photographs, these cave houses were simply home.
They belonged to the families who lived here through ordinary days, celebrations, difficult winters and long summers overlooking the caldera. Children played in the narrow paths of Imerovigli while everyday life unfolded around these very walls.
Τhe earthquake changed the island, not the house
In 1956, Santorini was shaken by one of the strongest earthquakes in its history. While many homes across the island suffered severe damage, these cave houses remained standing.
But life had already begun to change. The family had grown, the older children had left for Athens to build their own lives, and little by little the house became quieter. Eventually only our great-grandmother still called this place home.
A second life
Years later, with deep respect for their history, the houses were carefully restored by Yiannis and Irini Tzitzi.
Old stone walls, traditional architecture and family memories were preserved, allowing the homes to welcome life once again.
